MPC arpeggiators

Hi,

I haven't got an MPC yet But I'm thinking of buying one. Before I do I'd like to know more about the MPC range arpeggiators. This probably sounds like a silly question but I want to know:

a) which models if any have an arpeggiator? and
b) are they any good?

I've been using a Roland MC505 for about 10 year and it's got a fantastic arpeggiator. I'd like to start using an MPC as the MIDI controller for my whole hardware studio but I want to make sure the MPCs have the same facitlies.

you might wanna take a look at the specs of a MPC, a arpeggiator is not one of them unless the 4k has one which I doubt. I have a 4k but have only sctrached the sufrace of it. If you just want a midi controller it might be a waste of money for you. I know of the roland machines they have a lotta sounds built into them. THat is noe one of the MPC strong points it has samples that are included, but people usually dump those and sample there own and make there own soundbanks.

Thanks for the help. I thought that might be the case Looks like I'd better keep looking.

No Arpegiator in the 4k or any other MPC line.

You can record a Arpegiator into the MPC's sequence and play it back, but the MPC itself won't generate Arpegiations.

I use my Waldorf Q Rack, which is a 16 Channel Multi-Timberal Synth. Synth I generally use 1 Sound per synth, then many Sounds with different Synths, I have the Q running 1 Sound but I still have it set up in Multi-Timberal mode, and then I create a patch with no Oscillator Volume and the ARP on. And then put that patch into any of the other midi channels on the Q, and then I can use the Q's Arp to control the MPC samples or any of my other synths.

In step mode (with auto increment turned on) you can create your own custom arpegios easily on any MPC. The difference is that you are not restricted to "canned" arpegios...It takes minutes at the most and you're not limited to a preset group of arpegiators.
