NEW MPC 2XL USER

I JUS COPPED A USED MPC 2KXL FROM GUITAR CENTER, UPGRADED FROM THE OG 2000, & IT HAS A ZIPDRIVE IN IT & IT STARTS UP BY ITSELF WITH NO START UP DISK WHICH I THOUGHT WAS PRETTY COOL. NOW WHAT I DID WAS SAVED A BEAT ON A ZIP DISC THAT I HAVE CONNECTED TO MY OG 2000 TO PUT IN THE XL, BUT WHEN I DO THE MESSAGE SAYS "NO FLOPPY DISK" & IT DOSENT READ THE ZIP AT ALL. THE XL DIDNT COME WITH A MANUAL BUT IMMA DL IT SOON, IS THERE SOME KINDA SETTING IM SUPPOSED TO SET ON THIS THING? I DONT GET IT. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

You have to use the cursor key and go down to the Device: heading and change that to the SCSI ID number that your ZIP drive is on. You can set this to load by default by going into the Setup in the load menu.

THE XL ALREADY HAS A ZIP DRIVE & I already tried that, when I goto device it shows floppy disc, the scsi's & then a flash rom, it dosent have a zip drive option & it shows a floppy disk, but the xl dosent have a floppy disc. When I insert the zip into the xl the mess says "no floppy disk".

Does it show ATAPI device?
I think that's what my says, I'll have to check when I get home though.[/i]

Maybe your Zipdrive is a SCSI . That is conected to the intern SCSI-Bus. If it's so you may check the SCSI-Devices.
My MPC needs the SCSI-Device 5 for the intern ZipDrive.

since you have no floppy drive, you get the message.

My guess is your ZIP drive is SCSI. So, go to the load menu and go through the SCSI ID's. The Zip disk should be loaded. Go through all of the ID's starting from the top & work you way down. At some point you should see the ZIP light come on. That will tell you what SCSI ID your ZIP drive is on. Could be 0 too. Mine is set to 0.

You should be able to use the set-up like fade502 suggest, but just try it manually until you figure out what the ID is set at.

I TOOK IT BACK TO GUITAR CENTER & THEY DIDNT KNOW WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT BUT SOMETHING WAS WRONG, IT WOULD READ THE ZIP DISCS AT ALL. IMMA JUS COP A 2500. THANKS TO ALL THAT REPLIED.
