MIDI Sync / Cubase Issues

Yo,

I have an MPC 2000xl and a copy of Cubase SX 2.

I have MIDI OUT A from MPC going to MIDI IN on my EMU soundcard. And vice versa.

I had it working earlier on today before using FruityLoops Studio, exactly the same setup - everything in the MPC itself is set up.

Then I went back to Cubase, and it just won't do anything with the same option as before.

Go back to FL and it's working?

So it's not a PC > MPC issue I don't think, it's a Cubase issue?

Any ideas? Is it just after using FL that messes with Cubase? Maybe FL runs permanently in the background using some phantom sync shit or something.

Basically I don't have a clue right now.

Any ideas would be cool.

have you went into the Cubase options and setup cubase for midi? you have to set it up to send/receive midi instructions. it isnt just 'plug and play'. you also have to set your mpc midi options up.

i have my computer midi out going into my mpc midi in, and thats all i needed. that way when i pressed record in cubase, my mpc would start playing.

I'm not a retard. It was working. Now it isn't. I didn't change anything. All I did was use fruityloops studio.

Has it occurred to you that something might have changed? It's worth checking out Smoove's suggestion just in case. And there's no need to be ungracious when someone offers their help.

Telling me it was Plug & Play is not help. I knew that already. Nothing has changed to my knowledge. I have not changed anything.

Smoove made no suggestion. It clearly said it was working in the original post and that I have changed nothing but it has stopped working. Telling me that I have changed something or I had it set up wrong is the opposite of having it working, alie?

Hence, the mention of FL Studio. Maybe someone else has had the same issue since using this? Maybe this changed something?

I could only be ungracious to someone offering help if someone had offered help. Typing common words or problems after I'd specifically made a point of saying it was set up right is no help.

This is the point. Check and see did FL change something in cubase. Fruity Loops may still be holding on to the MIDI Port after it's quit. At the risk of incurring your wrath I would suggest you restart the computer first.

Have someone who's not an a$$hole try it, it may just not like you.
