Yeah, we used to play that game when I was in engineering school at University of Indiana. It's definately great practice, and really gives you a good sense of the sound and feel of the whole frequency spectrum. I would recommend starting out doing it on classical music, since typically an orchestra covers the frequency spectrum more densely than other types of music.
