Quality with timestretch

Ive been playing around with the time stretch but any time i change it by more than 5/10bpm the quality is terrible espeecially if i change the pitch then. The quality is good when i samples it in btw. Is there any way of improving this or would timestreching on the computer be a better idea. Thanx in advance

i use timestretch in cubase and it does the same, so maybe its just better to slice the sample up instead of stretching?

yea i agree. maybe it is better to chop them up. i was reading the 5k manual and it was saying that if you're gonna use timestretch, make sure your sample is as close to the bpm you want it to be then use the stretch. cause if you stretch it too much, it wont sound too good

im not sure what mpc you are using but in the 4000 and the 2000xl you can change how you stretchit/compress it.in the 4000 you have the preset and can adjust it from speech to dance to percusision.so make sure you adjust it acordingly.i have compressed stuff from 95 bpm's up to 135 bpm's useing the dance 3c preset and it sounded perfect.

the 2000xl has the same thing although i cant remember what its called anymore.

this is why its best to sample from vinyl, so u can sample at the right speed (or somewhere close)

But the purpose of timestretch is to make the sample longer without changing the pitch.

oh yeh, i forgot that, i only ever use it to make loops fit tempo, i never thought about pitch as its normaly drums that i use it on.

the 1k has many presets too, also adjustments in lower right of screen.
