I am trying to use my keyboard to trigger sounds in fruity loops and sequence it all on the mpc...I used to do this with the midi sport, midi to usb cord and it worked fine, but for some reason the thing wont install properly. I thought I was out of luck, but then I noticed when I hit play in fruity loops my mpc played as well, (this is because I track out to cubase with midi.) So I tried to connect it with the keyboard but I cant get it to work. Is this even possible?

I have a mpc 2000xl
keyboard with MIDI in/out
MI4 soundcard with in/out MIDI

u need to explain the routing of midi in your setup first.

but if fruity sets off your mpc, then it appears u have the pc sending midi clock out to the mpc,

the keyboard needs to go- midi out > to mpc in, mpc also needs to pass this midi thru to the pc , so as the mpc records the keystrokes into its seq/plays them back from a seq/or u play them live, it also triggers the fruityloops inst on the pc.

i would set the mpc 'midi' mode 'midi' page to: active trk rcv chan 'ALL',
soft thru 'omni-A'. set mpc 'sync' page to: 'sync in: 2', 'sync out :off'.

keyboard's midi out > mpc's midi in 1,
mpc's midi out A > pc midi in,
pc's midi out > mpc midi in 2.

hope this helps

I'll try it...what more do you need to know about my setup? I usually track out to cubase...Cubase Midi out to MPC Midi in (MPC is slave) and with my keyboard, I usually have that hooked up with a synth MIDI from keyboard out to MPC MIDI in from Synth to keyboard..
