i tried recording with the analog, through a headphone jack in the tape deck...
is it possible to use the digital input with the av outlets in the tape deck and if not could i run it through a stereo into the mpc or must it come from a cd player?

or i could transfer it onto a computer, but what cables would i need and what softwere do i use for mac?

thanks

I don't think your tape deck would have a digital out because, why should it? Why not plug the rca cables either into your mpc or computer. The cables depend on your soundcard.

the rca cables go from the tapedeck to the mpc digital input and no recording signal makes it...

That is not going to work. You can't make an analog sound digital without converters. The digital imput is not a converter. You need to plug the rca cables into the "record in" to get sounds. You can either buy 1/4 to rca cables or just buy an adapter for your rca cables at radio shack. But the main point is...You NEED to us the record in on your mpc. Or you computer.
