I watched Sparq's tutorial on using Reason as a sound module and I have my set up exactly as he described. I have midi out from my midi keyboard to midi in of my MPC. In the main screen of my 1000 I have the type as "MIDI," program off, and Midi to channel 11A (same as in Reason). When I record, I hear no new sounds when I playback. Am I doing something wrong?

Yeah I got a USB connection with my keyboard going into my computer and Midi Out A (does A or B matter?) from my keyboard to Midi Out 1 (does 1 or 2 matter?) of my MPC.

I don't have a Midi In on my soundcard (Firewire Solo). I have no idea why this isn't working.

check out the M-Audio UNO. right now you're trying to run your mpc as master controller through your keyboard and into your computer. i think it has to be directly from your mpc to pc.

Any other suggestions?

Does my MPC need to be connected to my computer via USB? B/c right now I don't have it connected. Do you think this is the reason I can't record MIDI? I don't think it should matter should it?

or

Do I need a MIDI link b/w my MPC and my computer? How do I do that if I don't have any MIDI ports on my Firewire Solo?

u gotta buy a usb to midi interface like: http://www.feedback.nl/?id=55&b=PHPMIDIHUB

its a dutch site, but it's just an example. Cheap too, like 40 dollars or sumthing. U should be able to get them for less though... u have no choice.
most of the time it's plug and play so no hassle installing things. :)

So if i'm reading this correctly, you have your midi out from your mpc to your midi out on your controller? Because that like two deaf people trying to talk to eachother. There is no communication. If you want to use your mpc to control something through midi, you need to have the midi out from your mpc to the midi in on whatever you are using.

what midi controller/keyboard are you using? i think some of them can be used as a midi-usb interface so that you don't have to go out and buy one. try hooking the midi out from the MPC to the midi in on the keyboard (if it has one).

sorry if this doesn't help in your case.

dumb fuka's i swore there was someone on here who said "what goes in must come out"?

how on earth is reason going to get any signal if its not plugged in?

think of it like a phone call being transfered from department to department.

[Keyboard] --> [MPC]--> [PC]

What ever you record on your MPC stays on your MPC, so it will record all the midi data, then play it back triggering what ever you triggered in record mode.

Do you have a midi interface like M-box? if not your not getting nothing.
here's how I have mine setup.

Korg-midi-out>mpc-1k-in>mpc-out>to audiophile -interfa-midi box-midi box>to PC. I can play and Record Reason how ever I want. But you have to have a midi box to communicate between the two or three. 8)

Ok so I bought a MIDI USB interface and it still doesn't work!

I have Midi Out from my Midi keyboard to the Midi In of my MPC. Then I have the Midi Out of my MPC to my computer via USB.

Why the hell doesn't it work? What am I doing wrong?

First go to the MPC,mode sync. set in:1
sync out: AB

MPC OUT: to IN on the interface. Then Go to Reason and Check in Edit go to Preference: click on Page to see if your interface shows up ,if not then check it ,and click on your interface.
then go to option in Reasons and check midi Clock. try it see what happens.

Ok I'm gonna try this when I get home but what if I don't any way to connect my USB Midi interface to my audio interface? I have it connected to my computer. Will this work too?
