hmm, I dunno. I know that I have a 60 and want a 60II just because it's not what I have and I think it looks dope...I'm sure some 60II owners want a 60mk1 at times too.

yea, the mk1 is more desirable. the mkII is of shoddier build. no flippy screen, and no leather hand rest!(big downer!)...lacks the headphon out of the mpc60 thats hwat sux tho:o

I have a 60 and a 60II. I'd never part with either one. I tend to use the MkII more because of the phone jack. Sometimes it just isn't cool to crank the monitors late at night. Other than that, I have no prefreences of one over the other. Also have a 4k but for drum tracks nothin' beats the 60.

I agree with homie above, I usually work on stuff at night or in the morning so the headphone jack is a must.

I posted this in the 1200 forum, but do yout think the 60II is grounded, where the 60 MK1 isn't? Reason I ask is because the 60 MK2 has the 3 prong plug in where as the MK1 does not. When I sample in to the 60 MK1 from my soundcard I get a high pitched whine when I sample in to my 3K from the same source I don't get that whine.

I was wondering if the MK2 model would solve that, and get rid of the noise?

are you sending the mpc60 back into the soundcard? this sounds more like feedback...

Nope. my 60II has a two prong plug. Check your cables and all your power cords, sounds like you have some kind of a grounding issue, or a cable issue, or some kind of a loop. I had the same exact problem when I sampled into/played anything out of my 60 into my laptop while it was plugged into the AC adapter. Removed the AC adapter, let the laptop run on batteries and the whine went away.

okay, cool.

i don't know then, maybe it's the level coming out of the soundcard or the balanced cable

I'm going out from the soundcard to the MPC to my mixer to the monitors so no loop, I'll **** with the levels and the cable

Oh yeah, one other dope thing about the 60 is you can hear your ish you run through it even if you're not in the sample new sound page, the 3K will cut you off..if that makes sense

you can lay drums and then play the sample before you actually record it in...real nice

That sounds cool... I like to try to find the right pitch of a sample before I sample it by playing the lp and having the beat looped up on the mp at the same time...

The reason I ask is because I notice that a 60 without the 3k upgrade will go for more on eBay than will the 60II with the same OS. I feel just the opposite about the flip screen, it would seem to me that if your constantly screwing with the screen, its more likely that you'll have to fix it due to moving it so much... I have never used anything other than the 60II... now I getting a little more comfy with the 3k upgrade and I'm starting to feel it...
