but you don't see any Strictly Breaks records of Madlib production. You could argue that he is not as well known as Pete Rock and Primo, but I'm making the statement that some of his stuff people just can't figure out. Some of his samples just blow my mind, and I will never be able to figure out what they are, which makes me go even crazier.

If you have your doubts about this, check out any of the early Groove Master compilations, espcially Vol 1-3. There's mad 'Lib ( ) samples all over these comps.

Being from Oxnard I could tell you that the man everyone knows for deep crates out here is KanKick, who put so many cats on to digging including Madlib and Babu.

what about DJ SHADOW?
BUCK 65?

By ownlife Wed Aug 24, 2005 5:26 pm
seriously, how could shadow not even be a choice? the guy is bananas. he might not be the best ever, but he definitely deserves to be considered for the title. what he did on endtroducing will never ever be touched by anyone.

There are too many cats to name these days. Alot of fire(as well as garbage) out there...

these names are a given:
Dilla
Large Pro
Pete Rock
Primo
Diamond
Premier
Buckwild
Ali Shaheed
Beatminerz
Madlib
No I.D.
Dug Infinite
Domingo

as far as new cats in the game...im really feeling Kev Brown,Jake One, Illmind,RJ D2, 9th wonder, Alchemist got beats as well...Thes One...

Another dope producer that yall should check out is this producer named Gensu Dean...he actually produced some shit for this group outta the south called "Crooked Lettaz." back in the early to mid 90's. But this cat is real nice with a humble set up. he uses an SP1200,a Roland VS 880 and an immaculate record collection. He put out a remix album called "the Dean's list." Anywayz, there are alot of dope beats being made out there with strictly records

(i might be a newbie to this site and just getting my own mpc, but i been a dedicated music nut since age 3 and hiphop has been part of my life for the last 23 years (23+3= do tha math) anyway for one thing why wouldnt Showbiz be up on the poll??? Did yall 4get what click tha ni@@a is down wiT(DITC) him,Diamond,Finesse, and Jazzy Jay are all originators of the crate diggin/ or just plain making sampling an art instead of just looping!!! anyway Keep Showbiz up there and then add all the DITC producers(Finesse,Diamond, and Buckwild) then add Biz Markie( yeah he produces too and the clown sure gets his fingers dusty),Pete Rock,Dj Premier,Large Professor,The Alchemist,Ced-Gee(ULTRAAAAAAAAAAAMAGNETIC),Marley Marl,Muggs, and you can make Jazzy Jay and Afrika Bambaataa the founders of the duttywax foundation and for the the new comers(the cats who are already on someones album droppin bombs) are Evidence and DJ Babu(DILATED PEOPLES is tha s@#t!!!) Man I could go on for days, but then i wouldnt have time to spend may be baby-----Lil Blue!!!!

Once you think outside of the box, then maybe then, it will be possible for you to forget about most of these cats.

what? Doc Dre gets no luv, you seem to forget how he flipped sh*t in the old NWA, days. And he was quoted as saying pretty much if you name the record he got it, you see part of the collection in the chronic 2001 jacket.

C'om are you serious?!?!?! He's produced for Nas, Mobb Deep and it turns out he did all the beats for the first 3 Tribe albums until he got with Jay Dee and started the Ummah. Jay Dee even credits him as his mentor.
