Pops

Just a little update. I got my 2500 replaced a couple of days ago, and haven't heard a pop or click since.

I havent got mine replaced but I havent heard a pop or click in weeks now

I'm getting those clicks too now...totally unreproducible. OS 1.10.

It seems like dodgy batches of mpc's. Some have a good one, others have a bad one.

seriously, i had this same sh*t with an mpc 1000 i bought about 3 years ago. sample clicks, one pad playing a sound of another, hums, uneven on table surfaces, etc, etc. I swaped mine 3 times, then gave it back.

Its just a teething thing.

Seems like I spoke too soon The pops are back. I really hope this is an OS issue and not a hardware issue as Groove66 says. At least it would be fixable that way. Alot of people do seem to say it was introduced in the last update.

Just what I thought myself when I read your post...sorry for that man. At least it seems to support the fact that it probably ain't a defective batch.

Maybe I'll try and downgrade to the old OS tonight and try to confirm it is an OS issue. It's no fun working with it like that anyway. If anyone else wants to try that, post the results please.

I know this doesnt help solve the problem, but I've figured out exactly what the pop is

from what I can tell its the metronome click firing off

I'm gonna try turning the click off and see if the pops go away

You sure about that? From what I remember hearing on mine, it is similar to the metronome click, but the metronome has more low frequencies...not to call it "bass". It's not the same sound I think. Sounds more like some kind of static discharge...

I'm about 90% sure thats what I'm hearing on mine

when I heard the pop earlier, I played the metronome right afterward by hitting overdub and I noticed its the same sound

That's strange...

I can't get mine to do it again for two days now myself, I have no idea what causes it. That's a little unnerving...

Ive not used the 2500 S/PDIF out yet, but assuming it sends clock over the signal (it should!) then you will be able to sync your PT interface to its S/PDIF input (i.e. the 2500)

I dont believe you will be able to sync the MPC to an external clock.

I don't understand, how and why would the 2500's digital out send a clock over the signal. I don't see a word clock connection on the unit. How can I find out if the 2500's digital signal is clocked? I can't find anything in the manual. How can i ajust the clock?

speaking of spdif, does your machin start to act up when sampling something in from the digital input. On mine, if i set the input through as digital in, what ever i am playing at that moment pitches up like 3 times what its suppose to.....can any of you guys confirm this??
