so what's so good about the 2500?

A higher sample rate is exactly what I need in a drum machine/sequencer

The 2500 is great because it doesn't stray too far from the MPC 3000 and 2000/2000XL. It has practically everything I have ever wanted in an MPC.

hm, this iswhat confuses me. this is what makesm eworry. the mpc4000 has really been updated shittily. what's to say this won't happen with the 2500? it seems ilke akai is putting out a bunch of products and not fully beta testing them or upgrading them. it's kinda lame.

akai used to be ya know that company that comes out with a really plain n boring piece of gear. but a piece of gear that's reiable. and does as it's told.

Then...you haven't done your homework or never used the other MPCs when they initially dropped..at least since 1997. Every MPC that was released since 1997 has has some initial problems. The 2000 and 2000XL are solid machines. The MPC 4000 (from what I hear in these forums only) still has some issues. As far as my partners that I use them, they are happy. The MPC 2500 is on its second OS. Many of the bugs were fixed and several enhancements were added. There are some problems now (nothing that prevents me from using it), but an OS update is forth coming (when...who knows)....

Now knowing all of this...you can pick up the Roger Linn Signature classics like the MPC 60 and 3000...you also have the option of the MPC 2000 or 2000XL and even the 4000. Eventually the 2500 will be a solid machine.

Just know that the next highend MPC will most likely have some issues. Just sit on the side line and let us beta test it before you fork over your loot Also, note that there is no similar product on the market that didn't have initial/current problems.
