You've recorded a track ...you play it back & while playing you decide to mute it cause you want to possibly play some other pattern....

YOU CANT unless you switch to a track that is NOT muted.

Is that dumb or what?????

2000XL did not behave that way.

Does this annoy anyone?

If I understood you correctly...the 2500 performs the exact same way as the 2000XL in this regard.

Try hitting the Track Mute button located in the top right corner of the 2500. You can mute away tracks like there is no tomorrow...just like the XL.

but you can't mute the track and keep playing on the pads. it mutes those too. yes that annoys me. the original os didn't do that.

i've never had that problem

It has NOTHING to do with the track mute button.....yes you misunderstood. It can happen.

soundasleep...you got it right bro.

Again, you have a clap pattern playing on track 4 (for instance) you then decide it might not be good enough so you chose to mute the track (clap sound) by way of function button F5 = MUTE.
Guess what? The pad where the clap is will no longer play unless you UNMUTE the clap (on track 4 of course). Better jahrome? :?

Again, the 2000XL did NOT suffer from this limitation. Sh!tty OS still

I'm not having that issue, when I mute a particular track I can still play variations with the pad that was recorded (the clap in your example)

might be a setting u need to change

Setting???

If thats the case i would be much greatful to you for indicating what setting to modify. I'll offer you some neptunes/timberland/dre samples for your help.

Deal????

i think it's the setting that cuts off long samples when you press stop. because mine doesn't do that anymore.

good news for u

I figured out what ur prob is

here's the solution:

if you hit mode+other(pad 10) , then hit F2 for misc., once in that screen change the last setting that says "mute/stop of one-shot sample" to "through"

right now u have it set on immediate and thats whats causing ur prob.

peace

Fist Full...

Good lookin' bro.

I set the "mute/stop of one-shot sample" to IMMEDIATE cause i frequently use long loops (16 bars). Now, if i wanna stop the sequence @ say....4 bars in...i gotta tollerate the loop hanging after i hit stop.

Solves one problem but introduces another. damn akai!

Thanx i owe ya. PM me yer email...i'll have a package for ya.

Is everything better debonaire :? :P

I hate to keep saying this but........anybody that takes 5 minutes to research any new MPC will uncover the fact that operating systems in these new MPCs are not solid initially. If you are the type to burst an artery over MPC issues...you may want to wait a year or so until the OS is solid.

Oh...and the greatest sampling drum machine of all time (the MPC 2000XL)
does have limitations. Even with the OS issues...the 2500 is mos def on the next level. You just need to take your time learning how to use it....and keep my name out of your mouth
