I Was wondering if there is a way to adjust the decay of a sample so that when you let go of the pad the sound remains a little before fading out. I know how to do this on synths but for some reason having a hell of a time doing it on the mpc 1000.

I tried reading the manual over and over again but can't figure this out.

Try again.
Look for the phrase "Envelope", probably in the "Program" chapter. If you still can“t find it get back and someone will give you a motherly hug and a page number.

remember your working with samples not a synth patch - so you cant adjust the decay if it isnt there to adjust. what you can do though is add some reverb to that sample, this can give some decay to the sample. you will then be able to shorten that decay to your liking.
