3rd party hard drive adapters for mpc 1k??????????

Is there any 3rd party hd adapters out there that anyone knows of or has used ? if you have a 3rd party hd adapter what brand,how much$$,is it realiable??? Only reason im askin is cuz i live 20 min from Youngstown and 50 min from Pittsburgh(Tha Steelers Baby!!) and i cant always get to the bigger cities and there is no Gear shops in New Castle,Pa we got mad cpu stores and crap tho.... so if i cant get the akai hdm-10 either cuz there sold out or just dont have them, i wanna be able to still upgrade to HD. Any help is appreciated......

I had to order mine from akai and I live in VA beach. I coulda got it from guitar center, but they was trying to charge me extra for it and they had to order it also, so just cut out the middle man.

HA! Good luck pushing that beast into your MPC. It would create a rather bizarre warranty claim for the Akai service repairs.

Seriously, this is recommended to mount your HDD in when you backup your work to computer. It is NOT intended to mount iside the MPC 1K. People get these as the USB 1.0 interface on the MPC takes ages to transfer large amounts of data, they take their HDD´s out of their MPC´s and mount them in this one. USB 2.0 gives a much faster data transfer. They then unmount them from the external chassi and mount them in the HDM 10 and into the MPC again.

Those who know says that the internal HDD port in the MPC 1K is an odd custom port used to keep 3 party developers out of the picture and Akai in charge of selling mounting kits with the proper adapters. So you won´t find any commerciallly avaliable adapters / mounting kits.

I agree, just order the hdm 10. I live in the netherlands and i had to wait for like 2 months before it arived. But it's worth it. €22,- for me mpc1kallday... so yes the price can even get lower...

LOL. People are so cheap. Complaining about the prices of RAM, the HD kit, and CF cards. And all after spending $600-$1000 on an MPC. Unfortunately music isn't a cheap hobby or profession.

you can bang on trash cans if it sounds good

you can burp out beats

you can beatbox

and lets not forget, downloading the demo of fruity loops, bang on it

and record you stereo mix for the beat

music doesnt have to be expensive

How could you call me cheap ,im poor, read my 1st post in this thread and c i have very few resources when it comes to pro audio gear(cuz where im at),I gotta car but sum times gc and the other stores run outta s@#t. I juss wanted to know all my options..............and when it was said on this thread in another post----that music aint a cheap hobby or profession.............U think Kool Herc,Jazzy Jay,G.W.Theodore,Caz,and Bam had money, let alone equipment...some of these dudes had two shiesty old 70's-80's style stereo's w/ RECORD PLAYER(read not a professional grade TURNTABLE), am/fm rcvr.,and 8-track cassette and-or compact cassette(modern day cass.) and they'd hook the left speaker to one stereo and the right speaker to the other rcvr and then use the balance knobs as faders!!!!!(and if someone mama had a QUADROPHONIC Pioneer joint or even 2 if u was Blessed and instead of mono mixing you had Bronx River Houses poormans stereo mixing! so maybe music as a profession isnt cheap . but the beginings of the culture/music started out with young boys and men starting a new style of music by rapping and singing over breaks of the modern day hits,obscure joints, oldies breaks, and even sound effects and BEATBOXING... added wit graf,scratch,break dance, and there culture and everyday life.....They started from nothing....... IT TAKES TIME TO BUILD --------------I was 3 turnin on my mom n pops stereo puttin on a record and amazed at the sounds and also how a black circle made out of vinyl spinning under a needle made them sounds come out the speakers.....mom said she listened to music everyday while she was preg wit me.........From the time i heard the opening intro of (OF ALL THE RECORDS IN MOM n DADS collection!!)Billy Joel's "Stilletto" i knew i loved music and wanted to be involved in it in some way....and then i heard Kurtis Blow,GMF,Whodini,RUNDMC, and then HIPHOP was my music of choice..........didnt start listenin to hiphop when Em's SS LP dropped let alone Snoops "DoggyStyle" and decide 6mos later id make my mom get me one, cuz we could barely afford for me to get fresh records to play-----not dissin on the cats who r rich and can do that(go out and cop equip at the drop of a stylus-----IF I COULDA I WOULDA:] ----but i earned my right to own an mpc and pursue my dream of the music and the culture____the $$$$ just an extra benefit---but not my main motivation------SORRY SO LONG JUST HAD TO CLEAR UP SOME THANGs-----------
