I'm not sure about it (even though it states it's compatible with CF readers), but it would be cheaper to buy a 100gb hard drive instead.

i could be wrong on this, but i think the mpc can only see 2gb on the cf drive. i may be wrong on that though, i asked sparq once, and i can't remember what he thought. :? it could be that that was all that was a vailable at the time the 1k came out.

I use a 1GB microdrive for transferring samples from my PC to the mpc (With a flashcard reader). But I save al my projects on my 60gb hitachi HD.

I'm pretty sure about the 2gb limit on the compactflashcards aswell.

Thanks for the replies. I went with a 1GB CF card to hold me over till Akai ships back my 40GB hard drive and 128MB upgrade. I was just curious if one could get away with rocking one of those 2GB IBM Microdrives in the MPC1000 as it would be nice to have as a little backup.

yeah the 2gb one should be no problem, it's when you go above the 2gb that no one here is definitely sure one way or another.

I think the 2gb limitation on CF cards may be a thing of the past, considering OS 2.0 and 2.1 are FAT32 (which can support drives over 2gb). I don't have any CF cards of such capacity to test out, but theoretically it should work.

i didn't know it was fat32, it should be ok if that is the case. :D
