it all depends on your soundcard what program you use. If you don't have nothing I would suggest a AW16G you can multirack your songs out, even save them as wav files on it. Its discontinued because of the newer moudle and you can find it cheap these days I have seen them low as 500. this Will get you up and recording without to much fuss. You can also get sonar and one of the EMU soundcards I know a few people using this combo I can guareentee it will work on your computer, Or you can even go cheper and get a M audio soundcard and get cubase SE. you can do all your recordering there. Cubase SE is like 100 dollars and a basic M audio card with a few ins is a little more. YOu have 2 many options to consider.
