the output level of the headphone jack is higher, too. at least it's higher than the stereo out. not sure about the mix out. give it a try. i'm running my speakers out of it and volume at half-way is louder than full-volume out the stereo outs. i don't think anyone with a MK2 needs to do the output boost mod.

i think someone in these forums has modded their MK1 with a headphone jack so it's def. possible. however, i'm not sure if they're getting the same higher output from it like i do.

Yeah the phones jack is REALLY loud.

That whine definately sounds like a ground loop. Try plugging it into different sockets etc.

Yeah, that's a fact. For some reason there seems to be a higher gain stage on the phone jack. I used to tap the phone jack with a modified insert cable. But a couple of vacume tube preamps and a good compresser on the stereo mix jacks is the way to go if you want that killa' drum groove. I use a couple of Avalon 737's.

for u mk1 users, just use the phones jack on your mixer.
