Whats gone out/broken on your 4000?

I've had random problems like I'm sure alot of you have went through, but My Q Link 2 went out 6 months ago and havent had the loot to replace it. HAs any of your pads went out or buttons broke?

Rec Gain pot is going bad on mine but that's the only problem that I've had since I bought it in '02.
Alot of cracklin' and poppin' when I adjust it so I guess it will need to be replaced soon.

Before having it replaced or fixed try using a contact cleaner. I use a product called Kontact Restorer made by Chemtronics. I had the "cracklin' and poppin'" on my mixer, after using the contact cleaner I had no further problems.

everything is workin fine on my MPC

only thing I have noticed is that some pads have los some of their response (gotta hit em mad hard compared to other pads to reach full velocity)

open up your mpc and see whats wrong with the pads/sensors.. Maybe there is some dirt or something.
you need to take the cover off once in a while to clean inside and outside the mpc.

my front usb port broke off and two of the transport buttons were broken. It seems that the mpc4000 has the weakest buttons compared to the other mpcs

On the other hand, its very easy and cheap to repair the buttons! Every button can be fixed by you! And if they are fixed properly, they wont come off anytime soon.

My data wheel gets more screwed up every day...I click it one direction, it clicks back two in the opposite directions...nice.
My B bank button is also on the way out.

Yeah my top left pad is gone, gunna open it up this weekend and have a look

Every once in a while, some of my pads wont trigger properly or work at all.

I posted a few weeks ago about my pads not working, now they all work fine.

maybe clean the lead sheet just and give the machine a little internal vac'ing, betcha that problem goes away

I broke my PLAY button a few days ago. It still works but it's rattling around loose. Sigh, I use the crap out of this thing, and I'm really nervous about it breaking because I depend on it so much.

Anyhow: drumtrack (or anyone else), how did you fix your broken buttons? Did you order replacement parts?

I've had my MPC4000 since August 2002 -
the internal mains fuse mysteriously blew once,
and during a storm, the roof leaked and water got on the MPC and made the pads go dead, meaning a board had to be replaced or sthg.

The jogwheel is a bit finickety...

Otherwise I've been fine - all my probs are just with the OS.

Nothing so far since it’s new.
Thinking about hooking up a USB keyboard to minimize wear and tear on the buttons.
Anyone here use a keyboard with the MPC?
