Got my MPC2000 (thanks duke!!!) got madd questions

Got hooked up with an MPC2000 now i have questiond, i already tried hooking it up to my surround sound and didn't get any sound at all, then i thought maybe if i used headphones, but still can figure out how to get sounds thru the rca digital out, what am i doing wrong, also how to i connect it to fruty loops?

Did you load up/sample any sounds in your mpc?

ur leaving out alot of detailed info. can't help you if we have no clue about your setup, what you did already, don't leave out any steps ya know.

I thot i did, ok here is what i did, when to (shift + Disk) hit load, got the claps and kick , hit do it, tapped the first pad, hit keep, and did the same for the rest, then i hit main screen, tapped the first pad ................. nothing.............second pad...........nothin, so i don't know what else to try, i'm now thinking of getting head phones and trying those

also how do u swap out the disk drive for a zip drive on a 2000?, i just checked it out , and its built for just floppys , i have a zip drive but it seems to be IDE, is there some kind of adapter for that to work?

well thats the way you load sounds, so you did that right.

do you have a mixer? when you hit those pads, does the level meter on your mixer jump? if so, then the sounds are in there.

is your MPC main volume knob turned up?

oh yea, the floppy is 34 pin, the zip is 40, the power in is diffrent too, n e suggestions? cos i can always go external

Make sure that you have a drum program selected and not midi on the main page.

to save yourself a headache, just go external scsi zip.

there is no ide connector on the 2k motherboard, the 2kxl has that though.

that's just one of the reasons people switched to 2kxl.

after you load those sounds in, you should be hearing sound with the headphones plugged into the mpc..

if so, follow what smoove said, if so, your audio is good through to your mixer.

no mixer yet, just go the mpc last night, thought i could use rcas for the digital out, tried loading up wav files but its not working. i have an rca splitter so i have two rca outs going to my surround sound, didn't think i needed a mixer yet. but if i do, since my friend is selling one, i need to run back and snatch that

if all you have is a mpc, then you probably dont need a mixer YET.

Have you tried just using the Main outs on the mpc? also, what kind of inputs do those surround speakers have? do each of the speakers have an input or is there just one main input for all of them?

well all i've tried is the rca digital out, the surround sound is hooked up to my reciever, and i plugged it to the phone input on my reciever, no sound, so i got desperate, plugged it to my tv av jacks (the audio only) still no sound, now i don't know how else to try

first of all, STOP using the digital outs and use the headphones on the mpc.

do you hear sound when the pads are being hit?

seems like you are too lost to be mucking with out that digital out right now.

have you looked at the 2k manual and check the picture diagram of how the basic setup looks.

Send me the mPC i'll show u how its done. I dont understand why u wouldnt use the headphones out u dont have to even have headphones to put in them u could jus use a cable to run it to a mixer or have a sound source play from it. Well hopefully with all the tire screechin u gettin somewhere.
