1-16A and 1-16B are for external MIDI multi-timbral sound modules. You can connect 2 or more MIDI devices to the MPCs two MIDI output ports and use the MPC to record/playback sequences....

The experts ( ) said to insert Program Changes in an empty bar at the beginning of a track. You can do this in Step Edit mode. Please let me know if it works for you because it never worked quite right for me.

how does the program change feature work??
its not really described in the manual.
I know, i can create many programs, but in the program menu
i can only assign prog 1-4.
so, how can i use more than 4 programs at a time?
what is the S in S:Prog in the main menu?
what is the 1-16A, 1-16B?
How do i assign my programs to the tracks?
Many questions, but i just need a little hint, to get things goin,
will figure the rest out by myself.
really tried everything. desperate. panic. need to know.
thanks

There's seems to be some confusion here. You can't play more than 4 programs at the same time on the XL. It's essentially four part multi-timbral. You can have more than four programs stored in memory but you can only access four simultaneously.
Program Changes will change one of the four programs in one of the four drum slots but your still stuck with the limit.

fo real??
****.
worst case scenario. wanted to stay mostly analog in my
production, give the preproduction to a studio for mix n master,
so i can focus on my rap. but as it seems, im at the
gap to digital evolution: gotta hook my mpc to computer.
sad day
but: still love my mpc!

And I thought I was the only one to believe this........

First of all the MPC is a digital sampler.
So you 're there already.
You still have a lot of sample slots to play around with. You just gotta be creative with those programs.
A computer would be better for laying down your rap, though.

digital? but al jarreau is chillin in my mpc rite now...
also i transmit my rap via morphogenetic fields,
straight to your cortex.
thing is, i'm just to lazy to setup dat computer stuff.
but guess, i have to make that move one day.

It seems pretty crazy not to incorporate a PC into your setup somehow these days, they offer so much flexibility.

This program change thing sounds like a right ball ache, on the newer MPCs i think you can have as many programs as the memory allows. Or at least i haven't found a limit to it yet

This thread was started asking about using more than 4 programs simultaneously. Simultaneously being the keyword. The newer MPCs can do 16X that and a bag of BBQ chips.

So far today you've helped a few people and you've attacked a few people.

You keep calling people gay.. :? WTF.

Helping is cool, but why do you have to "gayly" attack with a gayness..?
That's Gay.

Please stop.

This entire site is dedicated to practically sale/advance MPC use and for MPC users to network and learn something from one another.

I am not sure what you meant by the cracker comment..but if it means what I think it does...I am a brother

I must have really gotten underneath your skin...but I can't seem to find where. You were not even part of this conversation...and you sure didn't add anything useful with your post. This is what happens when parents don't monitor what their 13 year olds are doing on the internet...hopefully, they will start spending more time with you and take an interest in your music...just maybe..they will start saving enough to get you a new MPC for the holidays. However..with your preoccupation with 'gay' comments and lack of parental supervision..you may be taken advantage of in certain parts of this forum. (stay clear of the 4000 section young one)
