Naw, I got the jumpers set straight, the drive reads, writes and formats to the bottom (CF) slot in the drive, it just won't recognize the SD card in the top slot. I think maybe the MPC's OS can't read SD cards. Anyone know for sure?

Found out that the instructions I got with the drive had an incorrect diagram of the proper jumper settings. Gotta take my baby apart tonight and see if I can get that sh!t working properly. Thanks for all the help, people.

bump is what you write to "bump" the message back to the top of the message boards when you don't have a comment. CHILL.

As for smart media cards, I don't know.

um, smart media cards are almost obselete.... they only come in really small sizes, and i have heard that they screw up if you eject them whilst writing to them.
my advice would be to use some other card, like a Compact flash or sd card. they come in bigger sizes, are more widely available, and arnt on their way out.....

M.ic P.ro C.rusher, did you try and adjust the bumper settings yet? I was having the exact same problem you where having. I didn't know about the jumper setting thingy. But I don't want to open my XL again if it's not the jumper settings. Holla back.

Yup, moved it next to the ribbon cable instead of the power cable, now my drive's top slot is operational. Good times.
