pc to mpc sampling question

When producing with the XL I love getting clean sounding samples using a computer as the source. However with this lousy 1/8mini to 1/4 cable being my only solution for connection, I come to find my sample is hissy with lots of line noise. Or air, as some call it. My only method around it is loading pc to floppy then floppy to MPC.

I'm thinking about buying the MPC2500 mcd? with the usb cable connects, that would most likely solve my issue. But does anyone else sample computer .wav sounds to mpc? What is your method?

Get a better audio source. No need to buy an 25k jus cause it has USB.

That's NOT what the 2500 usb is for. Have you read 2500 manual to check what the usb is used for exactly?

pc usb external cf tranfer to 2kxl cf drive.

Same as Lampdog. There are plenty of topics about installing and sourcing the CF cards on this forum.

That's the best route you could take.

Good luck and don't waste money on a 2500 if you're happy with your 2000.

that's a good bit of money to spend when you are not sure about what the functions are and if you can even use them how you would want to.

you could get a better soundcard/audio interface...sounds like you're runnin it outta a stock soundcard which could be a reason for the hiss...

the cf reader would be cheaper though...

i chop my samples on Adobe Audition n then put em on a CD or on my CF card n then play em out on my mpc...sounds like it is ur soundcard das givin u problems...

Instead of spending a couple of $G's on a 2500, try this:

Get a wave editor, like audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net), it's FREE!!

Install a card reader, you can buy get one off of eBay or from this place:

You can get detailed installation instructions by searching this forum for: card reader AND 2000xl AND install, or you can go to www.mpc2000xl.com

Chop em up, add effects, etc., then transfer them to your CF card, pop it into your MPC2k and it's a wrap. This is much cheaper than buyin a new sampler just because it has USB.

So, I can install a card reader to "replace" my XL's floppydrive? Then I can load files on the compact flash slot of my computer and transfer them to my mpc, is that how it works?

Please check my "usefull links" signature below, ALL the cf drive to 2kxl info you'll ever need is in there..

I've said it a million times and I'm surprised you haven't ran across it by now, there is no ide connector on the 2k classic motherboard.

cosign wit lamp; there's no SCSI port inside the 2000 classic either... Quoting www.mpc2000xl.com:

BUT!!!!! You can go external on the 2000 classic. The best bet would be to search eBay for a Microtech 47-B, throw it into a slim external SCSI-II case and attach it to the MPC2k classic's rear SCSI port.

some of u are over thinking the situation if u get an audio interface it will send and recieve samples wit no hiss keep ur chords short and dont force the music i'm out like water
