My thoughts on the 2500

I dig this machine But I hate the fact that thers a chance of losing stuff when you turn it off, the wrong file errors and such. I must say that working on it is much faster than the 2000xl . Yet I miss my auto chromatic and layering with filters on one pad ...So I pick up my brand new 2000xl tomorrow....WORD

When I tested the 2500 the first time yesterday at a shop, I was surprised by its sound layering and filter abilities (a big step from the XL).
The new mixer screen seemed a bit funny, since there were different screens for level and panorama.
Are the "groups" in the mixer section meaning the pad banks?
The new rubber pads feel good, although a bit stiffer than the XL´s pads.
To me, the big screen is a great advantage, although the one of the XL is already big enough. It reminds me of the one of the MPC 60 mk1.
Maybe they wanted to bring back some of the 60´s charme with the green background. You can change it´s color by ordering a new background light and asking for a different color. The small companies who offer background lights for different machines should be able to offer different colors since they mostly make them by theirselves.

A thing that disappointed me was that it seemed not to sample its own output, at least it didn´t show its own audio level graphically.

It does actually, but doesn't show the level. That's probably because the Record Gain isn't active when resampling, the machine actually only copies the WAV data to another place...

Well... I had the xl for awhile. I gotta say, that aside from the OS problems, this machine is much better...

the usb is great.. automatic 8 outs... 4 midi out.. much more on the fx side.. normalize.. the grid edit screen (this is HUGE... ive never gotten into FL or any other computer sequencers that utlizie this, but I'm loving it on here..).. recording while a sequence plays..


I'm very happy with this machine so far... if they can fix all the bugs, then Im good to gooo...
