Quick question....

i was just wondering, with my programs on my hard drive and the samples loos within the same folder, can i then connect to PC and organise them, i.e make folder for each program and as long as the needed samples are in the folder also it will still work? it wont look for the samples where they previously were loose in the folder outside the new one created?

Someone back me up, but I think that as long as you keep the PGM files and the Sample files in the same folder, it doesn't matter what you rename the files to.

Now as to whether you should do it like this I don't know. I sent an email off to Akai asking whether you should either;
Create you files and folders within the MPC
or
Create and move directories using your USB connection through the computer.

And guess what, they never replied.

Somethign else to consider is the file / dir characters length. There is a limit of 16 charaters

Right then, just thought id post my personal solution. first of all as expected have a programs folder and a programs bkp (backup) folder, save duplicated, then if one doesnt work, i noticed when you try and send all the samples and program from the program that doesnt work usually its a corrupted sample that breaks the program, when you send over usb it will point out the corrupted file, once you know what it is, take your backup of the sample and overwrite the broken one with your backup, this should fix the program, the chances of the same sample being corrupted in both copies is low, hense improving your chances of salvaging your beloved program, just thought id put this up incase any other 2500 users are getting frustrated and wanted a kind of solution.

You can do either or. It doesn't matter.
I do both with my triton ext. Same thing, it doesn't matter.
