HARDDRIVE AND CD-ROM DRIVE QUESTION...

CD Drive:

1. is there ANY shortcut around buying akai's CD-rom drive (which is rediculously overpriced) and installing a different one? (i wish there was a scsi output so i could hookup my external CD drive...)

Hard Drive:

2. do i have to buy a particular internal harddrive especially for the mpc 2500 or can i use any type?...is there a limit on GB it can read? also, is there any other technicalities i should kno about before going out and buying one tommorow?....thanx....

Try doing a search on these topics, we have discussed them before and with a simple search (here and in the 1000 forums) you will find all you need to know. In a nutshell... The Akai dvd drive (CD-M 25) is the only one that will work as of yet. And save yourself alot of headaches and just get a Toshiba 4026gax 40 gig HD.

dunno about harddrive limit, but someone put 100gigs in theirs, on their site they have a list of 4 or 5 recommended models which they have tested at akai, supposedly, i got a toshiba 20gb, and ur stuck with the cd thing, there are no 3rd party alternatives. try ebay for a second hand one, but doubt youl be that lucky.
