u also have to specify exactly what it is u want copyrighted ie snare patterns, hi hat patterns, sample patterns, etc. etc.

You can't copyright a drum pattern.

just a recording.

Never heard of having to specify your drum patterns.

I have heard about giving a different name for each track for easy reference.
