2. yo how the hizzy EXACTLy do the tap temp work on the mpc? i mean i read the manual u know the whole TWO sentence it got on it it jus say tap it..i figured out to change it to 4 taps? but say i got a loop that is 4 bars. at what rate do i tap it? yall feel me? cuz u know i'm sayin i tried tappin it out and came out wit like 106 i had this dude try it and he a drummer at that n he came out to like 76.. but the actual tempo of the song is 67.9 so i'm sayin its not as easy as jus tap it since its gonna be different for each person? so can yall school me DUMB man style on how exactly to do it?

I would play a medley of "Clan in da front" (Wu-Tang), "Cream" (Wu-Tang), and then "Ice Cream" (Raekwon). You could also throw some "shimmy Shimmy ya" at the beginning (as an intro).........listen to some old Wu.

I like the fact u had the balls to go and sit at those piano lessons man

I dont know of much hip hop related written piano music but I think if you spent some time on it you might be able to make whatever music you DO find - have a hip hop feel. kinda adding your own style to it.

___________________________________________________________
hold down tap tempo - press a pad - it will repeat
as you hold it down you will see the different timings you can set it to on the screen from 1/8 to 1/32-3
just play around with it and u will see what I mean
+ hold shift and hit tap temp and it will keep it on without u having to hold it down

hope that was what u were looking for.

tap 4 times per bar, evenly spaced.

so during a 4bar loop u would tap 16 times total.

tap tempo is on the 1st downbeat of every bar.

just like you bob your head, that is your tap tempo, the mpc tempo
will follow along with your taps as it plays.

yeah, thats big balls to go and sit in on the class like that and try to get the
knowledge of piano going, I got respect for that move right there..

big ups to you..

ummm, don't you mean the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th downbeat of the bar? if you tap on just the first downbeat you'd cut your tempo down to a quarter of what it should be.

You tap to the four beats in the bar, the same is the "click" sound you can get going.

TIP: I've found it VERY useful not to actually tap the tap tempo button like you would the pads. Just put your finger on it and click it down - its much more accurate and i'm pretty sure thats how the button was designed to be used.

Find a hiphop song u like that is made entirely from samples of older songs (there are plenty). Find out what song they sampled. Find the sheet music for the original song. Rinse and repeat.

Setting tempo

You can set the tempo in the (Tempo) field of the
MAIN page. You can set the tempo for a sequence between
30.0 and 300.0. You can change the tempo after
you create the sequence. You can also change the tempo
in the sequence by inserting the tempo change event in
the STEP EDIT mode.

Tap tempo feature

You can set the tempo using the [TAP TEMPO] key
as well as in the (Tempo) field. Tap the [TAP
TEMPO] key to the desired tempo. The MPC1000
will calculate the tempo starting with the timing
that you tap with the [TAP TEMPO] key, and set
the sequence’s tempo to that. The MPC1000 takes
the average interval of 4 taps of the [TAP TEMPO]
key. You can set the number of taps used to calculate
the tempo in the Tap average field in the MISC.
page in OTHER mode...... MPC OS2.1 manual

pretty self explanatory dont ya think?

Maybe Akai should put more pictures in the manual as to keep the interest of the MPC users with little or no attention span...lol
