ASR-10 MIDI Question!!!!!!!

its been a while since ive had a problem to **** about but yeah here i am...

checked the manual

searched the site

im not lazy, just confused

I'm trying to sync up my MPC 2000 with my ASR-10 so that when I push Play Start on the MP the ASR-10 sequence will also play from the beginning....basically so that my drums on the 2000 will rock with everything else I got loaded on the ASR-10 in perfect syncronization. I can get sounds that I have loaded onto the MPC pads to play when I press keys on the ASR-10 but I can't figure out this. I'm probably missing somethin real simple but yeah...experts help me out........

but apparently its not that simple

make sure if u have the midi out into the asr coming out the midi A u have midi A selected in ur track

but you're saying that i should just be able to plug and play basically without adjusting any settings in the MIDI menus?

asr10 slave to external sync/timing.

It's in the manual. pg 46. internal = asr10 clock. external = mpc clock.

i did two tracks today and no matter how much i tried workin with it, i couldnt get it....man maybe im an idiot but.......


do you have to arrange one of the midi in settings? (i.e. omni as opposed to poly as opposed to etc. etc. etc.) i got my MIDI cable plugged in...set the MPC to MPC Time Code (i think that's the right term) but i didn't touch the ASR-10 settings.....

now my manual is an online version so page 46 is different than yours im assuming (mine was instructions on the foot pedal)...i checked the paragraphs on pgs 47 and 48 but it didn't seem relevant to me....

i know this isnt as difficult as im makin it out to be yall....... lol

im not infront of my asr right now but i think i have the asr10 on multi mode

i will let u know when i get home so i can help u out but its super easy i have my Asr10 and mpc midi together along with my triton rack and the asr is they keys for the rack its simple

the asr 10 has to be set to external sync. meaning it listens for and follows along with the mpc. if the mpc starts/stops then the asr10 will start/stop.

mpc midi out to asr10 midi in.

If my mpc is master I don't touch the time code settings.
the asr10 is the one that needs to be changed to ext sync.

I am also new to this combo and have got everything to work so far by reading this post execpt 1 thing when I change my instrument on the ASR 10 to a diffrent instrument it effect's the sequence I just made causing my bassline to now become my strings. So how do I make it to were when I select a new midi track on the MPC seq that new track is a new instrument from the ASR?

i remember some years back i could wrap my mind around this either.

You'll have to change the instrument setting in the ASR.

If you have an instrument on track 1 in the ASR, change the midi out channel on the MPC to match the instrument track on the ASR.

For example if I have a bass on instrument/track 1 on the ASR and the midi channel is 1 for that instrument, I change the midi out on the MPC to midi: 1A device01. This allows me to trigger the sound in the ASR from the MPC.

Each track in the asr10 must be given a midi number
8 dif tracks, 8 dif midi numbers.

In the mpc, you qould use the same seq w/ different "midi type" tracks set to the correcsponding midi number of the asr10 track.

MPC track device # = asr10 track midi number.
