Which Keyboard Do You Use With Your MPC 2000XL?

Joey, what exactly do you need this new keyboard to do?

What are you looking for like in features you would like
this keyboard to have?

That info will point you in the direction of keyboards
that you need.

Basically a keyboard hooked directly into the mpc. For some interesting sounds, but more or less piano tunes. I don't really have any pc software like Reason right now so I'm not sure if I would use it on there. I just have Cool Edit Pro and record all my tracks from the sampler to that.

So I'm not sure if I'll only use it w/the mpc until I pick up a nice software program to incorporate it with, but mainly for some sounds like bass, guitar riffs but mainly for piano tunes.

The most common used I think are the triton, motif, and fantom.

They are also "complete" workstations so maybe your not looking for all of those features in your keyboard. Just a keyboard that has sounds and midi compatible?

Cheapest would be a midi keyboard and you could trigger the sounds you have in your MPC.

Next cheapest would be a midi keyboard with sounds but not a complete workstation sampler type joint. Still it'd need to have midi.

If I had to do it all over again, I'd still go with the Triton Extreme.

No, no Reason needed. No software needed from you what you just described.

CEP is cool for tracking out your beats, I do the same with Vegas. I probably use it the same way you use CEP.

Just from quick reading and if I wanted to do what you are trying to do (sounds ONLY), I'd choose the cheap one. The other one has a 16 track sequencer and you already have a sequencer, MPC. That's one of the reasons why it's alot more expensive. It looks better too. But were going for cost and sounds only correct, I'd get the cheaper one. I don't know which one has better sounds though so if your pockets are ok with it get the one with the better sound quality. You'll never need the sequencer on the roland anyway..

You mf'n right.. I've messed with a few keyboards and the triton keeps seeming like the easiest sequencer to me. Maybe not to some people but to me it's just too simple. When I first got the triton I picked the sequencer right up and ran with it cause everything was right there on the main screen and easy to just TOUCH.

Yeah, I had no problem with it either. I started using it like you told me you used it a while back. Well, I sample myself and sequence 1,2,4 bar loops and sometimes 8.
I really love the sound of it and that tube can really do some damage with the right layers
