I just got 128 MB of compact flash for $20, why spend $200 on 8 mb?

I really don't care who buy's it, im just posting this for anybody who might.


the mpc 2000 xl has to slots for flas rom, effectivily giving you 48 mb of sample time.

sure it may be expensive. but it is the only way to get mor that 32mb of samples loaded into your mpc 2000xl

Thanks for posting. I really needed one of these. It helps if you dont feel like loadin up shit all da time. It will remember stuff and its great for the 2k if u tired of loadin dat damn OS disk.

Damn Lord T i wish you would've waited 2 weeks to post this :lol: .I don't think people really understand how important the flash rom is.Especially for 2k users.Hopefully i can catch one on back order though.Damn it man. :twisted: (good lookin' out)

Well you might want to keep in mind that the MPC-2000xl uses the FMX008M FlashROM and the MPC-2000 uses the FMC-01 FlashROM.

The list price on the FMX008M was $645 while the list price on the FMC-01 list price was $499.

I would contact Akai to be sure.
The Akai price/option list defintely shows 2 different models for them.
Probably has something to do with the mounting since the xl is an inverted classic and has the boot flash rom.
Just email Akai and ask them what is the difference between the FMC-01 (Classic) and the FMX008M (XL) flash roms.

No need to ask either one of them. If anyone is familiar with assembly MPCs then u will notice that on the mother board it states FMX008M. I remeber seein it and to be sure i took my 2k a loose to check and thats what it states.

But still thanks anyways.
