Now, we all know that was just a dramatization. I don't even think the thing had a plug running from the back in the commerical.

As a side note, one of the producers from Dre's camp who defected (along with Mel Man) claims that he was the one that produced that track.

But, anyway, a portable method of making beat would be crazy.

Whoever can come up with a piece of gear that can do this, with something close to the sequencing capabilities of the MPC series (i.e., not being able to copy patterns like on the SP404), should make a killing.

i use the yamaha qy70 it runs on batteries and is a midi composer then when i get home i just dump the midi notes i made into my mpc and change up the kits and sounds to get what was in my mind when traveling. It has a gm library as well and some of the sounds are not real bad but i usually use it for drafting beats. I also have the streetboxx i have posted 4 free kits in the 1000 section. The machine is a beast i love it. All the sounds are from east west and quality.

sidenote the boss dr 5 is also kinda the same and easier on the pocket by about 50 bucks you might want to check that as well comes with a gm sound library as well.

I have my mpc uphooked up to my car just for those point less drives. you can inverters which will power your mpc and make it portable.
