str8-150 is a great turntable
i never try the technics ...
but this one have a **** high torque, great features (33,45,78 ) (reverse mode) (pitch 8%,25%,50% very useful) everything is there.
it has line out (digital) and phono out (with or without ground). I have no mixer but I dont need a preamp. this is great.
I usew it for only 2 weeks, so I cant talk about durability...

just got some black pads, black base front and a flash card reader for my MPC last week.. i want to paint the case black...

That's a nice look right there Eddie; U don't have to paint the case black. I tried to peep your song on Myspace, but the buffering killed me, but I'm sure it's tight. Keep making it!

dont be silly, the 1200 is timeless. i tried vestax, they dont feel anywhere near as smooth.

I think the Stantons feel much nicer than Techs, that's why i bought them instead. Plus all the extra features are great for sampling, let's you really mess with the pitch etc and find stuff you might otherwise overlook.
And my mate prefers them to his own MK5 Gs!
But it's all down to preference at the end of the day.
