Hard drive Format?

I got a used 1000 on ebay with a 40gig hard drive but when i go into the load or saved screen i only see the memory card or the internal memory. The dud who sold me it took the hard drive out to photo it for the auction. Do I Have TO Format the Drive Again? If so how do i go about this? any help appreciated.

if so and you can't see it on a load page
then maybe you need to format it.

what does the manual tell you to do when using hard drives?

The manual doesnt have nothin about the hard drive. I dont kno if im lookin at the wrong spot. I just need to kno How To Format The Hard Drive I dont see a option in the menu. Any help is appreciated,

Got to the load screen and one of the F# keys is for 'utilit'

Go into there and you can select which device you want to format then the rest is straight forward

In my format screen all i get is the mem card.
