waste of money 2000classic to XL

Just seems like classic users haven't used a xl, they always talk about the difference in the wrong ways.
It's not the TC/E, it's not the tilt screen, it's more about the functional enhancements to the unit.
If you were to sit down with the XL manual for a week and then try out the XL for a week you would feel the difference.
It's just functionally refined.
Take that and start adding the new features on and the difference becomes pretty obvious.

It's a pretty cheap upgrade from the classic to the XL, since xl's are pretty cheap and you can always find a first time buyer who will pay too much for a classic.
It's pretty much a $125 upgrade, that's pretty cheap for all you pick up with the xl.
Just wait till all the 2500's start hitting the use market and things will really be interesting.

If the 2kxl is so great, why you trying to sell it to all us "poor" mp2k classic users? Shouldnt it just sell itself? Or are you like a missionary or something, come to show us the light?

Ive had my 2k for a minute now, and the workflow is just fine thanks.

In fact, if someone gave me a 2kxl id just turn around and sell it and use the money to buy somehting that'd really make a real difference in my workflow (like a fully loaded S6K or a butload of cocaine ).

Anyway, my "old" mp2k has its own personality and shit. Its been with me from the begining. Trading it in for a 2kxl at this point would be like shooting old yeller or something.

If you like what you have... great. Good for you. That does not change the fact that an XL can do EVERYTHING that your classic can do... as well as many other things that it can't.

XL is a better machine... fact

As said b4 it's you who decide what suits your needs. But honestly I couldn't care less about the tilt screen on my 2kxl. What I like about it is the possibility that I could install an internall CF reader, no startup disk, extended sample editing etc. I know that a lot of people use a computer to do sample editing but I don't have a computer in my studio and I want to keep it that way.

I have an XL as well as other MPC's.

Dude asked a question, people are giving answers.
If you can see the difference in the units then that's your loss.
You have to use them to see it.
Just is really clear to see those who defend the classic haven't put time on the XL.
It is simply an improved classic.
Most of the improvements are ones that you can't see without usage.

Some real XL advantages:
1) better display with better contrast adjustment
2) O.S. in flash
3) 50 pin SCSI-2
4) internal bus for drives
5) 4 programs at once
6) Device naming
7) folder structure
more seq memory
9) seq to pads
10) 2nd seq
11) track mute/next seq buttons
12) TC/E
13) beat Match
14) ZONES
a) adjustable zone editing
b) program creation from zones
c) functions for zones, cut & paste etc link together for more
direct access to editing functions
15) Individual patch bank buttons

Just to name a few.
Most of these features just allow you to get to or use features quicker than on the classic.

it was worth every penny!
