Tuning

Wattup everybody, just a quick question;
lets say i have a single bass note which is for example an "A note" how much would i have to tune it to make it a tone or semitone higher in programme mode. so yeh basically how much do you you have t tune or detune a sample to make it a tone higher or lower. cus right now im just guessin and it always sounds a bit off.....thnx
