Best thing to replace the floppy drive...

I'm researching what types of storage I can use for my MPC2000XL. So far I've come up with:

- External hard drives (+/- 100$ shipping included for 9GB)
- External zip drives (+/- 70$ shipping included for 100MB)
- External jazz drives (+/- 80$ shipping included for 2GB)
- Synchrotech IDE to 6 in 1 multi-card read/writer (51$ shipping NOT included)

What do you guys recommend? I'm leaning towards the hard drive or the card reader...I figure the card reader is easier for transferring files to pc since I don't have a scsi card in my pc, but I'd like some thoughts on this.

Internal Zip Drive that can easily be purchased from ebay. You can get an interanal card reader for 50 bucks on ebay also.

So you wouldn't go for an external scsi hard drive...Okay, thanx for your point of view.

Get and internal card reader, but make sure to buy a compatible one. No moving parts, huge storage capacity and noiseless.

I just mailed synchrotech regarding shipping and shipping costs to belgium.

I'm late but I want to vote for the multicardreader as well. No moving parts means less chance of a part malfunctioning and losing your data. Trust me, I think I'm cursed as far as ZIP disk. I've lost plenty. Get that cardreader and hit up Sam's Club for some SD and Compact Flash cards.

is there a limit to the capacity of compact flash that an mpc2kxl can handle?

Just wondering...Is the internal zip available to the classic?? If so, where is it placed? Does it go where the floppy used to be?

ive got a external hard drive on my classic 2000

IDE/ATAPI, extend the cable, replace the floppy

I am very sorry I thought we were still talking about the XL. The classic can indeed not have an internal zipdrive without hardware modification since it has no internal ide/atapi nor scsi port.

So if you're rocking the classic then your best bet is to go for external scsi devices.

I got an internal zip drive to transfer files to my computer and vice versa (also to backup my beats); my main storage device is a scsi hard drive though.... never had any problems with these;
