I have heard lots of conflicting shit about whether the 2000 (in my case I have a classic, not xl) can be used to sample .wav files from CD. I'm completely confused at this point!! And I am begging someone to walk me though it...If this doesn't work I'm selling the drive and getting a zip (and maybe will rob a bank to appease myself)...

I've burnt CD's as data files; however, I heard something about having to place an image on the cd. Is there a way I can get free software to do this. And would you please walk me through it??? (You'll get bonus karma points)...I have 1.72 OS btw. Can someone explain this to me (in details please...I'm a newb)...(Btw, I have a mac...can do on a PC if need be).

I've also heard that CD's don't work--at all...so fire away!

Thanks!!!

So does this mean I can't do it with my powerbook alone? I need a formated external hard drive???

Confused still...I've actually seen this article already.

Indeed you got it. This another good reason why I went with the XL instead of the Classic. It's just more limited in storagemedia options than the XL.
