Can I hook my guitar up to my mpc through a mixer

If you want to play your guitar you can connect it to a mixer but if you want to record whats comin from your guitar into your mpc then you need to plug it up to the RECORD IN on your MPC.

Sorry, both are incorrect. You can't plug your guitar directly into either. Well, you could but the signal would be very weak and would sound like garbage. For best results, I would mic up your guitar amp. If you don't have an amp and need to go direct, you will need a DI or direct box. The DI will boost your signal up to usable levels. You can get a decent direct box for under $50. Run your guitar into the DI then into your mixer and then mixer out to MPC. Hope this helps. Just get yourself a cheap direct box. Your local music store should have them. Whirlwind makes good ones for cheap. I think their most basic is called "The Imp" and it's around $50. Don't plug your guitar straight into your MPC or mixer. The ins and outs on your MP and most mixers are Line level and are not meant for direct input of Hi-Z signals like your guitar puts out. If you don't have $50 for a new one you could probably find one on ebay for cheap. Good luck.

Lots of stuff can be done, the point is making music that sounds good. He's right you need to amplify the signal either with a mic'ed amp or a DI box.

Even if it's an active guitar?
