Which MPC do you think sounds best????

i dont have my mpc yet, but i got a s600 and that sounds sooo dope its amazing.

for me the 2000 classic is my choice of weapon!

i used a 1000 once and nearly broke it it was so flimsey!

I think best sounding is the 4000
what comes in comes out, the converters go soo deep
Much more clarity, sampled stuff from my 3K in my 4K and they sounded the same

to me everything sounds different ... its 12 bit vs. 16 bit... drums come out nice and warm and snares snap...just seems like there is more life to everything i sample compared to my 2kxl..

i dont really like the sound of my mpc2000xl. The sound engine gives the sounds a kind of metallic feel to it.
Some kind of guitars, when sampled, sucks really on the 2000xl. They turn out sounding flat and metallic.

I got to agree with the notes above the 2kxl has a thin sound compared to the other mpc's, it gives a clean cd quality but thin. The 4000 gives a strong delivery and very consistent and have a blend of all the mpc's in one. The 1000 over all is the best for your money, but I will say you can't go wrong with the 4000 just high in price. I currently use the mpc2kxl se3 and now upgrading to the 4000. One thing I did notice loading sounds from the mpc2kxl to the 4000 they sound soft and thin but clean. When I took the same sounds from the mpc2kxl and made a audio cd of them and sampled them with the 4000 from the cd I got a better sound quality. Hopefully I gave enough detail of comparison from the mpc2kxl to the 4000, but my choice would be the 4000.

know what's funny about that???
That would mean that Akai would have to sell you 2 MPC's;
1) the 4k to use
2) the MPC you want it to sound like so you could sample it into the 4k

Still I understand what you are trying to say, but your case is different since most people don't have multiple MPC's.

I only tried it just to see how it sounds
on some occasions I sample from whatever mpc to my 4K

The only real & fair way to know this is to have them all in front of you and sample the samething in all of them. I had a 60,2kxl and now a 4k,I just love the mp period, they all sound good to me!

Alot of it depends on what type of music you're playing...If you're covering mutiple genres the MPC4000 is best in my opinion. That "60" sound is pretty specific...

I agree with this in a lot of ways. I used to have the 4k, and when i downsized to a 1k I kinda missed some of the 4k's sound...the clarity and punchiness. I recently started really messing with the master eq and compression on the 1k heavily, and realized I could get a very similar sound to the 4k. I also could get a warmer ASR 10 sound as well. I will see if i can get something close to a 12 bit sound, but I think this will be something hard to do.

Basically with the master effects section on the 1k...I think maybe only the 2500 has that as well...it really does open up more possibilities for the machine.
