Should I first upgrade the os to 3.14? and then take this floppy bootable update?
what do you guys think?
3.14 and 3.14B ROM images that I released a while ago were obsoleted by the release of version 3.16.
If you want/need to run the latest OS then it is best run from clean from ROM.
1: That way you won't be reducing user sequence memory as a by-product of booting the OS from floppy. ( happens when booting ANY floppy version on an MPC3000 ... can't be helped ).
2: That way you won't be placing the CPU into a memory addressing mode where it has to overlay code booted from floppy with that which is in ROM. ( stability reasons ).
3: Code in ROM boots on power up. Rather than 45 seconds later. ( convenience ).
( Floppy boot versions were never intended for full time operation because of these and other reasons ).
If you wish to use OS 3.16 then boot the floppy version straight from your OS 3.11 version in ROM.
If you want to obtain OS 3.16 in ROM then read the information included with the OS 3.16 download on how to do so.
