recording sequences?

okay i know this question has a real simple answer and i feel like a fool askin..

okay so i am on the main screen doing a sequence.
Say i have finished this sequence ie the drums and want to start another sequence ie bass.
How do i record the bass whilst still being able to hear the first sequence
ie the drums. I have an mpc 2000

The second instrument would go on a diffrent track - not different sequence....ONce you figure that out, ask the question again if you need to...

yea. dont change the sequence. change to the next open track

keep the same part on the same track throughout all sequences
