midi problemz

how do i keep my synth from receiving the midi info from my mpc1000 and vice versa?( do i have to disconnect the midi cables from both? or is there an option on both the mpc and synth? My mpc screen says midi off. but my synth(alesis micron) keeps receiving the mpc's sounds..........HELP.

Check the transmit channels. The mpc is sending something, you could change the channels to a different one than the Alesis is Rx'ing on. Also, if you have a MOTU MIDI interface with clockworks you could re-route the MIDI that way.
