What if there was a way for MPC's to come with a built in synthesizer so that you could create your own basslines without using samples. There's plenty of freeware synthesizers out there that would fit the bill. For example:

Synth 1

or

Asynth

This stuff is free. Is this too much to ask for?

I think the beauty of the MPC is that it forces you to work in a certain way.
Programs like Ableton and Reason are great but they're so powerful that the amount of choice you have is an obstacle rather than a help.

The Mpc is self contained and has its own workflow method which is probably the most intuitive design ever dreamt up. If you want Bass Lines and such just Midi up the MPC or sample a Bass and use the sixteen levels or autochromatic assignment.

Throw into ur mpc:

sinewave
sawtooth wave
square wave

1 to 10 cycle wavelength at most, loop as close to zero
cross points as possible. These will use damn near
00.00 % memory.

Attempt to use imagination and whatever tools you have in your mpc
to make up your own wanna be synths.

Yeah, it's the mpc's way of work! Only the machine + ideas + soudforge(optional) and mpceditor.

I'll create the sine wave in sound forge, then cut it to 1 or a few cycles long, then throw it in the mpc. I've done that before, it's a pseudo way of getting wanna be synth samples. The effects board and the modulator module can doe some cool stuff with those types of samples but since it's not meant to be a synth you have to imagine and combine other features to get a decent sample(s) going.

Not for the faint of heart.
