help with SCSI pease

would this type of SCSI external drive be suitable to use for the 2000XL to store wav. files and Akai sequence/extension files externaly. for use with the 2000XL?

Nope! Theres no proof a drive that size will work either...Plus you cant burn CD's via the MP.........

And, withit being firewire.........How do u propose to connect that then???

i just want explained, what SCSI Zip Drive i will need and where to get it!

also, im not sure how you store data on them? 750MB? does that mean the drive has a 750MB storage capactiy? or are those the size of disks you put in them???? does the drive act like a computers external hardrive?

You can go 2 routes!

Internal (Atapi) OR External (SCSI)....Get either a 100MB or 250MB...

The number of MB's is the maximum size disk (storage space) you can use. I.E 250MB is the max but you can also use 100MB in combination

You can get either Drive from Ebay or a computer store....

Note* External drives are alot more str8 4ward to get started...They work str8 out the box. With an internal , you'l have to make modifications (Open up your MPC and get fidly)

Note*It would also be wise to install the same size drive in your PC if your going to be doing transfers between the two

u can use every kind of scsi device

evevn the old fat disc briks they vbeen used in the early 90s
4 example use a iomega 100 mb zip disk (u can save ur full loaded mpc up to three times with up to 1000sequences with 100mb it means three party sets on one disk
man when u get more mb"s u will loose the sight of ur set up

4 data exchange beetween pc n mpc use a usb iomega zip drive 100 mbs too
so this is really ezy to handel all of ur stuff like back ups or sound selecting

but never buy a scsi cd-rom with caddys don no way but they don run ur self createt disks

i ve connectet a lot of old scsi devices an all showed reaction on the mpc screen even the mpc showed me the serial number and device name

check ebay to get tha t stuff cheap

you say get a USB Zip Drive for my computer? so this means, USB Zip drive connedted to computer? and another for the MPC? so i say have wavs on my computer, i whack in a Zip disk to my USB Zip Drive (connected to computer), transfer the wavs. onto the drisk? and then take the disk out, and load the disk up in the SCSI drive connected to my MPC? does that work?

one other thing, concerning Sample CD.s (e.g the MPC Drum Sounds C.D) how do i load this up? does it give me individual drums sound to use on the pads, as in assigning them to the pads for use and recording? or is it loops?

Yes, it works but you will have to format your ZIP using FAT. Filenames no longer than 8 characters, heed my warning. It's been proven by many weeps and woes throught this forum.

Both, loops, samples, one hits. Just check the index on the CD before you purchase.
