Playing pads like a piano

Trust me I searched the first 10 pages that came up in the forum search couldnt find anything related to what I was talkin about.

What I am trying to accomplish is to basically have my samples stop when I depress the pad.

for example the way you would play the sample in Trim mode(press and it plays, let go and it stops playing). Putting my basslines would be hell of a lot easier if I could figure out how to do this.

"note on"

The mode you are looking for is called "NOTE ON". You need to change the samples you want to behave like this to NOTE ON. They default to ONE SHOT which means that the sample plays all the way out, regardless of when you release it.

MODE+PAD 7 (PROGRAM)
Hit the pad you want to change
Move cursor down to the sample name
Press WINDOW
Change the apropriate layer (probably the top layer) to NOTE ON

true story I did, naw but i feel stupid cuz Note On...was like one of the first things I messed with when I got my MPC....I shoulda known that
