Mp3 sampling - really that bad?

i afree with dj ede, .. vinyl sounds much warmer, i have sampled from mp3's lately, but i really see it a temorary until i can find certain trrecords then i'l re make the beats.
or maybe if i cant find the records i'l leave it as it is, it still sound ok sampling from mp3. just better from vinyl!

to me its all about findin shit no one ever heard before and has never used so when you take somethin from Limewire or somethin chances are people done used it and flipped it but when u get a rare vinyl that u cant find none of the shit anywhere online ect. u got better chances...

I personally prefer to own the music that I sample. Even if I don't have to pay dues to the owner of the rights because I don't sell my music, it's a kind of respect to the musician to buy his music if you find it useful. If that's a new record or 2nd hand doesn't matter. Now if you bought an MP3 off some online music stores, and don't mind sampling from an acoustically degraded source, that's just as ok.

when i find a hot sample, i'll flip it. it dosen't matter if other people sampled it already, cuz 90% of the time, im gonna flip it COMPLETELY different that you can barely even tell its from the same sample.

i dont care what people say about cds sounding better than vinal,, but vinal has ups and downs where cds are more flat sounding. mp3s are prolly even flater. i gotta stick to the ways of the maters like peterock are so on.
im not into the crystal clear beat fad thats on the radio now a days...unless im a rich producer whos makin beats for like pall wall
its can only be so clear,,,its more about the melody then the clarity
but props to all producers making the fat beats

I have sampled from all three sources as well as another source that nobody else seems to have thought of sampling from.

But if I had only one choice, I take a stack of vinyl over any other source any day. The warmth, the hissing , you can try to make other sources sound like vinyl, but you wont re-create it perfectly.

Sample mp3 and spend your day dowloading, make beats and never leave home, never leave home and you'll never got signed!

i've stolen a few melodies and basslines through midi files, just simply assign ya own sounds

Personally, I grew up on diggin. I experienced both analog beatmaking and digital. Basically, they both have their strong points but like someone said earlier, if the sample is hot, who cares whether its vinyl or MP3? If you are sharp in your digital game, you can make your MP3s sound like it came from vinyl anyway.

I can't believe how many people are sampling from MP3. I guess a lot of you don't know what MP3 does to audio. First of all it's a codec used to compress audio data so the audiofile gets smaller (for internet transfer). It's based on human psycho-acoustics, For example, if two notes are very similar and close together, your brain may perceive only one of them. If two sounds are very different but one is much louder than the other, your brain may never perceive the quieter signal. So MP3 codec captures only what the human ear can hear, it can drop to 70 - 80 % of your audio data. So why would you sample from a soucre that leaves behind a lot of soundquality from the orignal cd or vinyl version.

Do the test for yourselves, listen to something on cd or vinyl, bring it on a 128kps MP3 and do A B comparision... you will hear a big! difference.
