MPC 60 Dead?

I think this is a power supply problem.

This is what happened....
I was making a beat and all of a sudden horizontal lines showed up on my 60s screen. Everything just shut down. I waited a while then turned it back on. Same thing. Lines then screen just fades out. No button lights come on or anything.


Any help?

I had that happen and it was that the backlight was dead... if you can find a new one, its a do it yourself fix...

really? If the backlight was dead wouldn't lights and stuff on the mpc still come on? Or does everything not function without a backlight?

The MPC will still function without a backlight it's not that. Have you checked your fuses?

No. What should they look like? Any pics?

If its just a fuse that burnt out should I be able to buy another one and fix it myself with out dealing with a repair shop?

The fuses are on the power supply and they're in a group of 3. They are small glass cylinders with a wire down the middle, they're about an inch long and a quarter inch in diameter. Use a screwdriver to gently pop them out. Do it one at a time so you don't mix them up. If they are bad then they may appear cloudy or black and the wire in the middle might look broken. You could get a replacement at radio shack for about 15 cents. Just bring in the bad one and they'll help you locate the new one.

Oh man, sorry to hear about your MPC. Let us know when you figure out what it is. I'm curious too.

I've opened up my MPC's a few times now. Know what you are doing it before you enter!

I forgot to mention theres a 4th one underneath the set of 3, incase you didn't see it.

my fault, I missed this part... umm yeah, if its the fuses your probably cool.

The fuses are good I don't know what else could be wrong.

I replaced all the fuses and it still doesn't work!

Try some of the ribbon cables. I had a similar problem with my 3k a while ago.
You know those wide flat pc-looking cables. Just reseat them and try powering up again.

it sound slike the saem problem with one of my 60's. Do some of the LED's remain on on yours grimay? Notably the disk one although some others light up when I power up. I'm still no nearer a solution

I checked the ribbon connectors and replaced all the fuses. It still doesn't turn on. Any other ideas?


No lights come on or anything!
