Undocumented Features

Don't know if this is a bug, or "unfinished feature".

Go to a Program Window, select Filter, then expand that using the "Window" button. This is typically where you set how much velocity effects the filter, or what not.
So, by default, the cursor has the "N" in V>Filter: N selected. But if you cursor right once (to upper right corner), then once more, you end up seeing V>Time:N. From there, cursor down, and it's V>Amount:N. Cursor Left from that, and you'll see Amount: N. Cursor Up and you get Time: N.
I can't see a parallel inthe 2000xl manual...any ideas? It doesn't seem to do anything, but maybe it doesn't take effect until your running a sequence or something.

Anyways, I REALLY hope it's a sign that Akai realeased this product early, just to get it out the door, and a future OS release will include things like envelopes, filter envelopes, and auto-chromatic tuning that just limits this thing from being a *real* sampler. I know, some say you can do this things on the PC...but you then can't adjust that stuff in real time, or even sequenced, can you?
And what's the deal with the Q-Sliders only taking effect when the sample is initially hit...does that mean I can't adjust filter cutoff in real time???

This is typical for Akai products. Features get added later. In other words, sales fund R&D. Most every sampler/synth company use this business model.

I know several more features that are not yet accessible in the MPC1000, but I am really not sure if they will actually be implemented (every MPC ever made has had unfinished features).

This has been the way it has always been on the MPC's (doesn't make it right, but at least it is there).

I guess I feel duped in some way. I assumed akai has caught up with the rest of the world in feature set on the MPCs...MIDI control of filters is pretty damn simple, real time or not. It means Roger Linn's original code from 1989 is still in these things and more recent developers haven't changed a thing (If this is developed in Japan, this explains alot...Japanese are great at manufacturing but don't write software very well).
That's what I get when I switch from an Emu product that's balls-to-the-wall MIDI control.
Alright my rant's over. I guess it's a lot like my old S-20 but with a pretty good sequencer and effects.

Both. We are not supposed to see it and these are appearing on the wrong screen.

Well, in this case none

But I'd like Pitch envelopes *someday*.

Oh yeah...in my instructions, you need to have Filter Type selected before pressing the window key to access the Filter Modulation parameters. It almost looks the interface for an LFO.
