i need help i just got a 2000 and i was wondering if there is a way to chop a sample in to 16 zones any help would be great thanks

trim screen,
make multiple copies of the sound you wanna chop, then chop the copies of the sample however you want

Thats one way... I think you can just go in Trim, then push zone edit and chope each piece, then make each piece a new sound.

Zone edit does not exist on the 2k classic as you pointed out yourself. It seems like the thread starter was talking about the 2000 classic.

It does exist on the 2000 classic. It doesn't do the autozone thing that the xl does.
You don't need to make multiple copies of the sample just use zone edit and it will make a new sample for your selected range.

If you have a computer get Recycle and the Mpc Editor. Chop yor samples in Recycle and export them as an Akai file then open the Akai file in the MPC editor. You now have a MPC program with all your samples chopped perfectly.
Chopping samples on the 2000 is time consuming and not much fun.

Yeah, I only chop on the mp these days. Whenever I use recycle I end up chopping manually anyway, and then I have to deal with transfering files from pc to mp (the whole name issue). At that point, all the creativity of the experience has drained out.
You are much better off, knowing what you want to sample, sampling it and chopping it by hand if you can.
It is a skill, however, and it takes practice to do it quickly.

"Tip8-How to chop a sample using your zones.
First sample something.then go to shift trim and edit your sample.Then decide how many samples you want to make out of this sample(1-16)
Now hit zone in your trim screen.On the right side you will see zone and a number.
Open the window on the number and set ti to how many zones/samples you want to create.
Now on the top right turn xplay to zone.Now when you hit f-6 is will play the part you are editing.
edit your start and end points for all of your zones.When you are ready to chop hit edit in your trim screen and go to slice sound.Create new program no.
Now all you have to do is assign the samples you created in your program screen"(akaimpctips)
